2013 Year in Review

Merry Christmas!

This year has been a blessed one for the Hays family! The biggest news was, of course, the arrival of our sweet Asher. He has been such a blessing, and we are overjoyed that this child we have wanted and prayed for over the past several years is finally with us.

We've had lots of other good times though. Eli's birthday party   was fun this year, although if you ask him about it you'll get a different story! He says he didn't like it because I used his trucks as decorations and he didn't want me to. I'll remember that next year and clear everything with him first, ha!

Then came Asher's birth. Oh, how a new child changes everything! We have been very impressed at the way Eli has adjusted. He loves Asher dearly and is proving to be an excellent big brother.

Eli finished his first year of preschool. He is attending Gardendale Preschool again this year and he loves it. We have seen a big improvement in his confidence this year at his Halloween and Thanksgiving programs. He teacher also says that he is speaking up in class more (he's never had a problem sharing his opinions at home, but apparently he was pretty quiet in class last year!) Eli is a funny kid with some quirks that keep life interesting!

Asher is growing so quickly. He is 7 months old now, and he sits up really well. He has very little tolerance for being on his belly, so we don't expect him to crawl. It looks like he will be an early walker, just like his big brother. Asher has a very sensitive belly, and it took us awhile to determine that he had reflux and a milk protein intolerance. He's been on medication for the reflux and hypoallergenic formula for the protein intolerance since he was about eleven weeks old. The reflux seems to have resolved itself now, and we are hoping he outgrows the intolerance soon- that special formula is incredibly expensive! We are happy he is stable and growing though, so it is a small price to pay. Asher is an incredibly happy baby and has a smile for everyone. He has already said "Mama" and "Dada"!

We just celebrated our nine-year anniversary! We spent a night in Columbus and saw Bill Cosby perform. Laughing with your loved one is a great way to spend an anniversary!

Jason continues to work at St. Rita's Medical Center, although he officially works for Catholic Healthcare Partners since being promoted to Regional Director of Supply Chain. His responsibilities have been greatly expanded, which is a good thing for Jason- he loves having a new challenge!

I'm still enjoying being home with the boys. I've been working on my hobbies of baking and photography when the boys give me a chance!

We hope that this Christmas is a blessed one for each of you and your families. Merry Christmas!
