Jason and I made a deliberate effort to keep Christmas gifts at a minimum this year, and especially with Eli we tried to focus on the real meaning of Christmas. I did a few advent activities with him, and when I would ask Eli what Christmas was all about, he’d say, “It’s Jesus’ birthday!” and, “Jesus is the light of the world!”. He also learned that Mary was Jesus’ mommy and that Jesus was born in a barn.
This was our tree before opening gifts:
Eli opened his stocking first… and was surprised with an Angry Bird!! He loved it, and his new scissors and forks.
The first gift Eli opened (unfortunately) was his trucks and “dirt”. I say unfortunately because he loved it so much, he didn’t want to open anything else! He started crying when we had to take it away from him to get him to open other gifts!
What finally stopped his crying though was his Busy Book! I’m going to take that as proof that he likes it and all my work wasn’t in vain! He was really interested to see what was under each flap and on all the other pages!
