Llama Farm Field Trip!

Even though this is Eli's second year of preschool (and they did mostly the same field trips) this was my first opportunity to go to Lee's Llama Farm with him. Last year I had just had Asher, and my mom went with Eli. Let's just say, I'm not disappointed that it was my first and only visit!

The kids fed the llamas bag after bag of bread- there were some seriously funky looking llamas! One of the parents even got spit on! Gross!

At this point, I was thinking, "This isn't too bad. The llamas are on one side of the fence and we are basically standing in the driveway to look at them and feed them. No big deal." But then we had to go INTO the main pen, where there were several smaller sections fenced off. Yikes, llama poop everywhere. You literally could not avoid it, it was just a matter of finding the path with the least amount of poop. The kids kept feeding the llamas and we were able to see some peacocks and deer up close.

This llama recently had a baby! She was very protective of her little one. Mr. Lee tried to bring the baby out to show us, but the mama was having no part of it! She got very agitated!

The kids had their snack on the porch of the caboose (after a very thorough hand washing!) They loved it, of course, but it was the weirdest field trip ever! I tried to ask Mr. Lee why he had all these strange animals, but he never really gave an answer!

It was a strange field trip, but at least I got this precious picture with my favorite 5 year old! Spending time with him was worth it (even stepping in piles of llama poop!)
