Asher- 9 months

Every month (every day, really) I fall more in love with Asher. He is such a blessing and a sweet baby. He turned 9 months old on the first of the month, but he has learned so many new things in the first part of this month that I had to wait to post! At his checkup, he was 18 pounds, 12 ounces. I was so thankful for this weight because he's been having trouble eating again. He went through a spell where he would only drink his bottles during the night when he wasn't fully awake. He still isn't drinking much formula during the day, but it has improved some. I was getting very concerned about feeding aversions and reflux flares... but once again, I probably just need to relax and let him do what he's going to do.

Asher's front middle teeth have FINALLY broken through, although he still looks like he has fangs. Doesn't matter- he's absolutely adorable and his whole face lights up when he smiles! He has been able to tolerate a few more table foods, and he just started eating puffs. Sometimes he ends up with more on his face than in his belly, but it's a start!

Asher has a pretty predictable routine. He crashes hard between 8 and 8:30 pm, and wakes up for the day between 7:30 and 8 am. I wish he slept that whole time, but he's usually up 3-4 times (one of us feeds him around 10:30 pm, then he gets up 1-2 more times to eat, and we rouse him in the morning just enough to give him his medicine). When he wakes up for the day though, he is all smiles! Below is the face I see every morning when I open the door, and he always laughs and says, "Huuh, huuh!" like he's trying to say hi! It's one of my favorite parts of the day. He always grabs a hold of me when I walk over to his crib and gives me a hug. Such a sweetheart!

In the past couple weeks, Asher has really developed the ability to crawl. This makes me so excited, because Eli never crawled and I think it is just so cute! I'm also hoping that it will make him less frustrated because he can get where he wants to go a little better now. He still prefers to be on his feet, but he's getting more accepting of crawling. He's getting a little more brave and balanced with his attempts to walk. On Friday, Feb 21 (at 9 3/4 months) he took his first two steps unassisted! We were at my parents' house, and he let go of the table and took two steps to mom because he was trying to get to me!

Asher has started taking his baths in the big tub. We usually still place the baby tub inside, but occasionally he takes a bath with Eli (more because Eli wants to than anything!) Friends of ours gave us a bath seat to make it a little easier to keep him upright and protected from Eli!

Asher has grown and changed so much just this month. It makes me so excited to see him reach new milestones, and I can't wait to see what he masters next!
