More fall fun

Both of our boys have made transitions in their sleeping arrangements lately. Asher was starting to sit up in his Rock N Play sleeper a little too much for comfort, so we moved him into his crib. We had to make it as similar to the RNP as possible though- his bed is still propped to help with the reflux, and I made U shaped bumpers out of beach towels to keep him from sliding down the ramp! He made the transition pretty easily, thank God!

Now Eli. Little Mister Resistant-to-any-change. He has been sleeping in his twin-size bed for a year now with his head at the wrong end because that was the way he faced in his toddler bed. I finally convinced him to turn around so it would be easier to make the bed!

Another quirk of Eli's... the kid hasn't worn jeans in probably two years. He decided a while back that he didn't like the way they feel anymore and flat-out refused to wear them. So it's been all sweatpants and elastic-waisted khakis for over two years. About a month ago, he told me he wanted to be Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates for Halloween. Jake wears blue pants, so he reluctantly agreed to wear jeans- only for Halloween. I made him try on the costume the week before his class party...

...and from then on, I've barely been able to get him OUT of his jeans! He wouldn't take them off that day, asked if he could wear jeans the next time he got dressed, and literally told me, "These are really comfortable", " With all these pockets, I could do work in these pants!", "I need to show Zane!", and when he was getting into bed that night, "Jeans are AWESOME!" Really??

I've been so proud of Eli and the way he's taken to being a big brother. Most of the time he just loves on Asher. He's been a big help and hasn't shown any jealousy. He really is a sweet boy!

(Eli was so excited about taking this picture that right after I snapped this shot, he dropped Asher! Oops! Thankfully he was only a few inches off the ground!)

I remembered a picture of Eli in this same Halloween outfit, so I had to do a side-by-side comparison. I think Asher looks less like Eli as he gets older, but there is a strong resemblance! At the time, Eli was two months older than Asher is now in this picture.

Trick or Treat for our neighborhood got postponed because of rain, so they had it on the Saturday following Halloween- it turned out great for the kids because Jeremiah and Angie were able to join us!

Asher slept through most of Trick or Treat, but he woke up in time for me to put his (our) costume on and snap a few pictures! He was the cutest little bee I'd seen!

We had a couple really chilly days, but that didn't stop us from getting outside to rake and play in the leaves! Asher was pretty content in his exersaucer while we worked.
