This summer has been incredibly hot! That, combined with a (minor) surgery that I had this summer, forced us to come up with some fun indoor activities to keep Eli occupied. Thank goodness for Pinterest and the ideas it provided!
Our first activity this day was to build a giant spiderweb in the dining room! Eli and I made paper spiders and other insects to hang on the web, and then he had to crawl through it without touching the spiders. We left this one up for a few days, and he kept going back to it. I call that a success!
Our next activity that day was making "elephant toothpaste". I combined hair developer (hydrogen peroxide 4 %) with a little food coloring, then mixed in activated yeast, and the foam started spewing out the top of the bottle. Eli thought it was awesome!! I told him that the foam would grow, but he had no idea that it would ooze all over the pan! I loved the look in his eyes when he saw that chemical reaction!
He liked it so much, he begged me to do it again, so we made another batch in green! So much fun, and it was actually really easy to clean up!
