I found an awesome website called “Impress Your Kids” that’s all about impressing God’s word on the hearts of our children. I have fallen in love with this site! The author posts amazing, simple activities that (so far) Eli has LOVED. She is currently doing a Superhero series based on 1Timothy 4:12. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” We are learning this verse (thanks to an awesome video that sets it to music!) and for the first part, we are talking about having SUPER SPEECH!
Our first activity was to make our Superhero crests: (Eli’s friends Zane and Sophia are joining us for some of the lessons, but I always have my hands too full to take pictures when all the kids are there!)
Eli had to let Mr. Bear try on his crest :)
When we’re all done with the series, there will be little badges for each area (speech, life/conduct, love, faith, and purity) on the crest and I’m going to make them capes! Yay, I can’t wait!
And our first Super Speech lesson is based on Ephesians 4:29,
Don’t let any evil talk come out of your mouths.
Say only what will help to build others up and meet their needs.
Then what you say will help those who listen.
Eli helped me paint some big lips, and we wrote the verse on a long sheet of rolled craft paper…
…so I can read the verse as the kids pull them out of the mouth!
It was a big hit with all the kids as they took turns pulling it out! We also talked about how to build others up with the things we say.
I’m looking forward to the other lessons in the series and will try to keep taking pictures as we go!
