For awhile now, I've wanted a way to document the funny things that Eli says and does. I find myself thinking, I HAVE to remember this forever, but I know I'll probably forget. Maybe even by the next day. Most of it is just silly little things he says that make me laugh, but I don't want him to be 7 years old... Or 12... Or 18...and not have any of those things written down. So, I'm going to try to remember to write some of them down here, so they will be recorded along with our pictures. (not sure why I never thought of this before, but better late than never, right?)
For example, before Eli even started talking, he would make us laugh when he got tired because he would start making a noise that sounded like, "Goya, Goy, Goya". Every time. And it got to the point that we started saying it to each other to indicate that we were tired! Now, at 2 1/2, some of his most used phrases (besides asking a million and a half "why" questions) are, "what's so funny about?" (love the extra preposition on the end of this one!), "that's what I'm talking about," and, "POW!" when we say something that he doesn't like. As in, "Eli, stop throwing your toys." ... POW!! He didn't think it was so funny when Jason used it on him a couple weeks ago!
We've also been teaching Eli to pray, and I love hearing what he prays. Throughout December, several times he told God thanks for the Christmas tree. The other day after we took the tree down, he was praying and it went something like this... "God, thanks for my food. Thanks for [looks over shoulder] the Christmas tree's all gone. Thanks for Zane and Fia [his friends Zane and Sophia]. Jesus, Amen." So cute!!
