As we prepared for Easter this year, we did a few activities from the book A Sense of the Resurrection from the same author as our beloved Truth in the Tinsel. We only got through a few activities, but hopefully next year we'll be a little more prepared (we've done Truth for three years now and still have yet to complete the entire thing!)
The first activity used the sense of hearing. We made a windchime-like contraption out of cans that we painted and decorated. When we heard them clang together in the wind, it reminded us of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the noise the crowd made. Eli was precious- every time he heard it, he'd say "Hosanna! Jesus saves us!"
Another activity we did used our sense of Taste. We baked break together, broke it, and ate it to remember the last supper.
The third activity we completed used the sense of Touch. We did some foot washing! I did Eli's first to show him what we were doing, and then he washed mine. After that, Jason and Eli took turns washing each other's feet. We talked about how Jesus showed us how to be a servant leader.
Even though we didn't get through many of the activities, it gave us a way to focus on Jesus during the Easter season. Eli was eager to do more of the activities, so I'm looking forward to trying again next year!
