This winter has been brutal! With two little boys that love to be outside, it has been especially hard. Not only have we had a LOT of snow (more than I have ever seen in one winter in my adult life) but the temperatures have been so low that we can't even go outside to play in it most of the time!
Jason and Eli went outside one evening while it was snowing because the next day temperatures were going to be 17 degrees BELOW zero- yikes! We knew going out in that was not an option, so they had to play while they could!
A few days later it warmed up a little (9 degrees, ha!) so I let Eli go out for awhile.
It was so cold, it broke one of our windows! We had this happen one other time. The guy that repaired it a couple weeks later said it was pretty common because of the extreme temperature difference between inside and outside. Apparently the panes of glass flex as the temp changes, and when the difference is too extreme it can't flex far enough. Who knew?
I let Eli go out for short periods of time to do some fun stuff. We blew bubbles and watched them freeze, and I mixed up colored water and let him paint the snow!
Asher and I even joined him for a few minutes. Asher did NOT want to come back inside!
We still have a lot of winter left, so I'm hoping we can come up with more creative things to do inside to help pass the time. Spring can't come soon enough!
