DC Trip, Days One and Two (6-7-10 and 6-8-10)

So, last week we had to travel to Washington DC because Jason had a conference for work. We knew going into it that Eli isn't a really flexible kid and he might have some trouble, but we hoped for the best.

We left around 7 pm on Monday, and the first leg of the trip wasn't too bad. Here was Eli at the start of the trip:

Around midnight he woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. We stopped in Bedford, PA to "get some rest" which kind of backfired. Eli couldn't get to sleep and cried for a LONG time. We managed to get a few hours of sleep and drove the rest of the way on Tuesday morning. Since we couldn't check into the resort until 3, we decided to go into downtown Washington and see some of the sites.

We visited the Smithsonian National Museum of Air and Space. Even though we were exhausted, it was neat to see some of the aircraft they had on display.

Before we went into the museum, we got a quick bite to eat at a McDonalds outside. Eli LOVED the fact that the birds and a squirrel would come right up to where we were eating- within a food of us. Mommy didn't like that so much!

After the Air & Space Museum, we walked around the National Mall for awhile. We made a quick trip through the Smithsonian Castle too.
