The first night at the Gaylord was rough- so rough, I planned to drive home with Eli the next morning and just have Jason fly home at the end of his conference. Thankfully, once Eli finally crashed he slept through the night and we all got some much needed rest!
The resort and conference center were beautiful- right on the Potomac River with a huge atrium. After exploring the hotel, I drove around part of the morning so Eli could take a nap and later in the afternoon we played in the pool. That night we went to Old Town Alexandria and wandered the streets. There are so many unique little shops there! We had an amazing dinner at a place called Bertucci's. YUM! We even got some French pastries to take back to the hotel for dessert. It was by far the most successful evening of the trip!
The next day, Eli and I walked for awhile in the morning and checked out the National Children's Museum's Launch Zone. Later in the day we played in the pool and hotel fountain. Eli was due for a nap right around lunchtime, so Jason had to eat in the bathroom and I ate on the floor of the closet. Our kiddo cannot sleep with us in the room! At that point, we were willing to do whatever it took!
I wasn't sure how to feel about this statue. It didn't exactly say "relaxing day at the beach" in my opinion!
Thursday evening, we drove back into DC and walked through the Museum of National History. My favorite part was seeing the gowns of the first ladies and Dorothy's ruby slippers from the Wizard of OZ!
