Starting Baby Food
Since the doctor gave us the go-ahead to skip the cereals and try vegetables with Eli, we started with sweet potatoes. Eli still has the tongue thrust reflex a little, so more of the baby food gets pushed right back out of his mouth than actually gets swallowed! He did better when we held him instead of sitting him in the high chair. (It also helped to feed it to him with my finger instead of with the spoon for awhile!) We'll keep working at it!

Oohh, yummy, that's one of our kids' faves! Kyleigh was awesome with the spoon...picked up the skill immediately, but Josiah did the tongue-thrust thing for a while and I wondered if he'd ever learn to eat! Kyleigh was so easy and quick to learn things, and I thought that was just the "norm"--it's what was "normal" for us as parents, ya know? Then Josiah came along and did everything differently! I had to ask our pediatrician soooo many more questions w/ JoJo than with KyKy---I felt like more of a first-time parent this 2nd time around! All kids are so different. My friend says she's never known a kid to graduate from high school w/out learning to eat, walk, and use the potty---meaning it'll all happen in due time! Didn't look like Eli was crying in your pics, so he's probably not opposed to those yummy veggies, and I bet he'll even be grabbing for that spoon to feed himself in no time! Oh, I also LOVE those early a.m. pics of Eli smiling at you, what a happy demeanor he has! Yay for all of you getting more rest!
