The boys' Easter "basket"

This year I borrowed an idea from a favorite author for Eli's Easter basket. We talked about how sin in our lives makes our hearts hard like rock. We used his Easter bucket to collect some rocks from around the park and we wrote some of our sins on them- not listening, not forgiving, anger, disobedience, etc. We prayed about those things and thanked Jesus for taking our sins away.

Later, I switched the rocks out for Eli and Asher's Easter treats... and put the rocks in a basket with Jesus' name, because he took those things away and they are covered by His blood (the red cloth). And instead of rocks in his basket, Eli had all the fun stuff! He may not totally understand the symbolism just yet, but I always want they boys to know the real meaning behind the holidays we celebrate- not just the treats and secular meanings.
