Eli's preschool class took their last field trip to the Optimist's Safety City, where police officers and firemen taught them about bike safety rules and fire safety.
First, they listened to the silly officer explain the 3 rules of bike safety, then they got to try out the rules on the streets of Safety City:
Then, it was off to the fire safety trailer, where a fire detective taught them about fire safety and how to get out of the house if there is ever a fire- ie, climbing out of the window if the door is blocked by fire. We'll have to discuss this a little more at home since Eli's bedroom is upstairs!
Some of the kids were a little nervous about the fake smoke and the fire alarm going off, but Eli climbed right out the window when it was his turn, then told one of the parents, "I really hope my Mommy can get out okay!" He knew I wasn't climbing out that window at 9 months pregnant! Luckily, the fire inspector gave me a pass and let me go out the door- I think he was afraid I'd go into labor!
They finished their program back in the classroom, where Eli got chosen to give the police officer a karate chop to get his tongue un-stuck! He thought that was pretty silly!
